Biographies
Bassam Aburdene is the Chairman of CTSA Holdings Ltd. and CEO and a director of Capital Trust
Limited. Mr Aburdene has in excess of 30 years of experience in investing and managing
companies in the United States, Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. Prior to the Group’s
formation in 1985, Mr Aburdene was General Manager of the Aggad Investment Company in
Riyadh, where he was responsible for managing the company’s investments, which included
mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, and principal investment activities. From 1974 to
1979, Mr Aburdene was an investment manager with the Industrial Bank of Kuwait. He received
an M.A. from Johns Hopkins University and a B.A. from the University of Connecticut.
John P. Oswald is the President and CEO of CTSA Holdings Ltd. and the President and CEO of
C.T. Capital International, Inc. Mr Oswald advises the Group’s U.S. operations which include
private equity and real estate. Mr Oswald acts as CEO or board member of several portfolio
companies and advises on the structuring and acts as client representative in numerous high
profile transactions. Prior to 1992, Mr Oswald was a partner at the international law firm Lord,
Day & Lord. His practice was involved in mergers and acquisitions transactions, cross-border
financing, tax and real estate matters. Mr Oswald began his career as a Certified Public Accountant
with Arthur Andersen & Co., where he specialised in real estate. He is a graduate of the New York
University School of Law (L.L.M.) and Brooklyn Law School (J.D.).
Olga Aburdene is a Director of Capital Trust Limited. Ms Aburdene’s responsibilities include
sourcing, execution and follow-up across all of the Groups’ activities. Prior to joining the Group in
2002, Ms Aburdene worked at Barclays Capital as a corporate finance analyst on the “Balance Sheet
Advisory” team, providing corporate finance and strategic advice to European banks and
insurance companies. Previously, she had worked at Linnco Europe, a financial brokerage firm. Ms
Aburdene holds a B.Sc. in Management from King’s College London.
Romen Mathieu is the Managing Director of EuroMena. He has more than 14 years experience in
corporate transactions and advising family owned businesses, covering Europe and the MENA
region. He headed Ernst &Young’s MENA desk in France and was a Partner of Ernst &Young
Corporate Finance (EYCF) and M&A in France. Prior to EYCF’s formation, Mr Mathieu worked
with Lazard frères, in the M&A and financial affairs team. From 1996 to 1998, he headed the credit
department of Banque Saradar in Lebanon and was a member of the bank’s credit committee. He
began his career with Arthur Andersen, in its corporate restructuring and corporate finance
division in France. Mr. Mathieu holds two post-graduate degrees in Finance (DESS and Magistère)
and a Master’s degree in Management from the Sorbonne University.
Gilles de Clerck is a Senior Manager of EuroMena. He has more than 14 years experience in
strategy and finance, of which more than 6 years were spent in the MENA region with Booz Allen
& Hamilton in the restructuring and privatisation programs. He worked in France as a Senior
Manager with Vertone, a strategy & management consulting firm. Prior to joining Booz Allen, he
worked with L’Oreal in the UAE as an Area Manager and with Price Waterhouse as an auditor. Mr
de Clerck holds a graduate degree from the ESSEC School of Management (Paris) and a Bachelor
degree in Commerce from the McGill University (Canada).
Guy Hodgson is the Group Chief Financial Officer and is a director of Capital Trust Limited. His
responsibilities include financial reporting and compliance for the various Group companies,
funds and portfolio investments. Prior to joining Capital Trust Limited Mr Hodgson held a number
of senior financial positions within blue chip City financial services companies and latterly with
The Berkeley Group, a residential development company. Mr Hodgson trained as a chartered
accountant with Price Waterhouse in London specialising in the audit of financial services
companies and holds a BA in Philosophy from University College London.
Finola Reynolds is the Real Estate Fund Manager responsible for advising the investment
committee on acquisitions and disposals. Her role also includes ensuring the efficient and effective
management of the portfolio. Ms Reynolds is Company Secretary on the Capital Trust Ltd Board
of Directors and oversees all aspects of Human Resources for the Group. Ms Reynolds joined the
Capital Trust Group in 1993 and has worked with the real estate team since 1996. Ms Reynolds is
an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development.
Karim Burhani is an investment officer of EuroMena. He has three years of experience in
Corporate Finance and Consulting. Prior to joining the fund, he worked in the Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia as a Financial Analyst at Horwath International. Mr Burhani holds a B.Sc in Banking and
Finance and he is a CFA Charter holder.
Wassim Heneine is a Senior Manager of The EuroMena Fund Management Team. Prior to joining
the Group, Mr. Heneine was an Investment Banker at BNP Paribas, Paris (Investment Banking
division) covering merger markets. He advised major clients including Saudi Arabian Airlines, the
Government of Albania and regional banks in the Middle East on several transactions in the
banking, insurance, airline, consumer goods among others. Prior to that, Wassim was a Manager in
the transaction services department of PriceWaterhouseCoopers in Paris and Boston where he
performed buy side and sell side due diligence for financial and strategic buyers and sellers. Mr.
Heneine is a CFA charter, CPA holder. He obtained his MBA (with honours) from Boston
University and is also a graduate of AUB. Wassim is fluent in Arabic, English and French.
Frederic Dib is a member of the EuroMena fund management team. Mr. Dib holds a Bachelor’s
degree in Business emphasis in finance from the American University of Beirut. Mr. Dib is fluent in
Arabic, English and French.
Raney Aburdene is a fund and real estate investment analyst. Prior to joining Capital Trust in 2011,
Mr Aburdene worked as a fund investment analyst at Camden Partners, a US based private equity
fund manager and as an international marketing and sales executive at the Marcus Evans Group in
London. Mr Aburdene holds a BA (Hons) in Arabic and Management from the School of Oriental
and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. Mr Aburdene is fluent in Arabic, English and
French.
Sarah Al Hamdan is an Investment Officer of the EuroMena Fund Management Team. Prior to
joining in 2011, Miss Al Hamdan performed internships in various industries, including Corporate
and Private Banking (National Commercial Bank, KSA). Miss Al Hamdan holds a Masters degree
in Supply Chain Management from Brunel University (London, UK) and a BA (with Honors) in
Industrial Economics from the University of Nottingham. Miss Al Hamdan is also a member of the
Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport (CILT, UK). Miss Al Hamdan is fluent in Arabic,
English and intermediate in Spanish.
Emad Odeh is the Managing Partner in the Dubai office. Mr. Odeh advises and is responsible for
the Group's GCC operations, Private Equity and M&A and Real Estate sourcing, execution and
follow up with the Group's investors in the GCC.
Mr. Odeh has over 25 years of investment experience in the US and GCC. Prior to joining the
Group, Mr. Odeh founded The OC, a Business and Investment Advisory consulting firm in Dubai
and the UK serving institutional and family offices. Prior to that Mr. Odeh was the CEO of Al
Thani Investments Group of companies for 7 years and before that CIO of Albawardi Enterprises in
Abu Dhabi. After graduating from Michigan in the US in 1985, he joined a Washington DC based
investment company where he worked for 12 years before moving permanently to Dubai in 1998
with his family.
